MATCH PREVIEW: COVENTRY V SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

FA Cup action returns to Coventry this evening for the first time since the narrow semi final defeat to Manchester United last season at Wembley as they host Danny Rohl's Sheffield Wednesday.

This will be the sixth time the sides have met in the last 13 months after they were drawn against each other in Round Four last season at Hillsborough, but a late Wednesday equaliser forced a replay at the CBS Arena, which Coventry won 4-1.

The two sides last met each other in October in the Championship as Sheffield Wednesday visited the Sky Blues, for what is usually an exciting fixture. Despite Jack Rudoni giving Coventry an early lead, a goal from Djeidi Gassama in added time before the break levelled the game before Shea Charles won the game deep into stoppage time for The Owls.

Coventry boast a better record in the Head2Head based on the last seven meetings between the Championship rivals. They have won four, drawing one and losing just twice.

Coventry come into this game on the back of a late defeat to Norwich City, despite leading until the 92nd minute after Milan Van Ewijk opened the scoring. The game was flipped on its head after Norwich scored two goals deep into stoppage time from Forson Amankwah to send Coventry home empty handed. 

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday were forced to settle for a draw at Hillsborough against Millwall. Despite taking the lead after six minutes through Yan Valery, Millwall hit back through George Honeyman and a late goal from Ryan Wintle looked to have won it for Alex Neil's side. Just two minutes later, Gabriel Otegbayo levelled the game again, which proved to be the final goal of the game.

Coventry are coming into this FA Cup clash with a few injuries to major players across the squad. Championship POTM Ephron Mason-Clark remains sidelined along with Haji Wright and Ben Wilson, as well as Ben Sheaf who has picked up an injury and will miss 4-6 weeks.

Sheffield Wednesday have a few injuries as well to some of the players in their squad who might have played this evening. Akin Famewo, Dominic Iorfa and Yan Valery look to be definitely missing the game, with Michael Ihiekwe and Olaf Kobacki doubts.

The hosts sit 16th in the Championship under Frank Lampard meanwhile Wednesday sit in a respectable 9th position who have significantly improved this season under Danny Rohl.

The referee for this game will be Thomas Kirk.

Match Preview: Coventry City v Middlesbrough

The Sky Blues hosts Middlesbrough on Monday night at the CBS Arena in a top-of-the-table clash under the lights. The new league-leaders are looking to make it seven league wins on the bounce following victory at Brammall Lane last Monday. After dropping more points at home to Oxford last weekend, the Sky Blues slipped to second place and have questions to answer against an in-form Middlesbrough. Match Preview: Coventry v Oxford United

The Sky Blues return to Championship football once again this weekend as they face off against Oxford United at the CBS Arena. Frank Lampard’s side will be looking to bounce back from consecutive away defeats against Norwich and QPR.
