Victor Torp was the hero for Coventry as he helped guide his side come back from a 2-0 deficit to beat West Brom 3-2 in a well-fought battle.
The Danish midfielder scored the decisive goal in the Midlands derby which saw the Sky Blues extend their lead to seven points at the top of the Championship.
It was the visitors who opened the scoring after nine minutes when Michael Johnston stole the ball from Jay Dasilva deep in his own half and found Aune Heggebo who slotted it home.
The hosts had a chance to equalise through Torp after Ellis Simms held the ball well before setting up the 26-year-old who's strike smashed off the crossbar.
Referee Andrew Kitchen had a testing time in the 31st minute trying to control the game after Jayson Molumby needlessly clattered into Ephron Mason-Clark by his own corner flag.
The Sky Blues winger retaliated which caused a brawl between both sets of players and resulted in both players being booked for their part in it all.
The Baggies doubled their lead in the 32nd minute in similar style to the first after Johnston drove forward down the right wing who squared into Heggebo and his shot met the inside of the post before rolling in.
The home side managed to pull one back in the 41st minute thanks to a cushioned header from Coventry-born midfielder Josh Eccles after a superb cross from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto.
Molumby was shown a red card after 49 minutes for needlessly pulling back Eccles in his own half, which resulted in his second yellow and therefore his marching orders.
Simms grabbed an equaliser in the 56th minute from a corner which was met by Bobby Thomas who headed across to the former Everton man who headed it home.
It took just a further five minutes for the Sky Blues to take the lead after Torp's bouncing shot managed to make it past Josh Griffiths in the West Brom net.
Despite having 10 men, the visitors searched for an equaliser in the last half an hour but didn't have any luck as Ryan Mason's men fell to defeat at the CBS Arena.
Coventry look to continue their blistering form in the Sky Bet Championship away at Middlesborough on Tuesday night where a win would see them lead the league by 10 points.
