MATCH REPORT: COVENTRY 0-0 MILLWALL

The Sky Blues ended the year with a goalless draw against Millwall at the CBS Arena this afternoon.

Star player Ephron Mason-Clark was a big miss for the hosts this afternoon who was out due to a hamstring tweak in Thursday's game. Jack Rudoni covered his position in left wing for the majority of the game, as they await the return of Haji Wright.

The first big chance of the game came for the Sky Blues in the 17th minute from a short corner that came straight from the training ground. Some fancy footwork from Victor Torp to get into the Millwall penalty area allowed him to set up Ben Sheaf but his effort was straight at Lukas Jensen in the opposition net.

Millwall rarely threatened the hosts throughout the game and had half a chance before the break through former Notts County striker Macauley Langstaff who's effort from the left hand side of the penalty area was easily met and saved by Swedish 'keeper Oliver Dovin.

HALF TIME CCFC 0-0 MILLWALL

The second half played out similar to what was on show throughout the first 45. Chances were few and far between and weren't threatening enough for a goal when they did arrive.

Jack Rudoni had the biggest chance of the game for Coventry in the 51st minute after his powerful strike from inside the penalty area rattled the crossbar and bounced off the goal-line. Despite half the ball being over the line, it wasn't enough. Josh Eccles played a beautiful ball to Rudoni to set up the shot.

The hosts began to push a resilient Millwall side early in the second half. Once again another massive chance was squandered in the 54th minute another massive chance going wide.

The visitors shape and tactics was based upon the fact that they had come to get a 0-0 draw in Coventry, and that's what they came away with, despite substitute Brandon Thomas-Asante almost finding the winner in the 94th minute from close range after a lofted headed pass by Tatsuhiro Sakamoto landed at his feet and his shot could only trickle past the goal line. The referee Andrew Kitchen concluded the game after this chance and the points were shared in CV3.

FULL TIME: CCFC 0-0 MILLWALL

The points were shared between the two sides who didn't have much difference in quality over the course of the game and were two similar sides with both trying to cancel each other out and staying defensively focused.

Next up for the Sky Blues is a trip to Wales on New Years Day for Cardiff (A).

Match Preview: Coventry City v Middlesbrough

The Sky Blues hosts Middlesbrough on Monday night at the CBS Arena in a top-of-the-table clash under the lights. The new league-leaders are looking to make it seven league wins on the bounce following victory at Brammall Lane last Monday. Match Preview: Coventry v Oxford United

The Sky Blues return to Championship football once again this weekend as they face off against Oxford United at the CBS Arena. Frank Lampard’s side will be looking to bounce back from consecutive away defeats against Norwich and QPR.
